Risk Profile

Understand your risk tolerance and the suitability of our various research products.

Last updated: 1 January 2026

1. Why Risk Profiling Matters

Every investor has a different risk tolerance based on age, income, financial goals, dependents, investment experience and psychological make-up. As a SEBI-registered Research Analyst, we are required to assess your risk profile before recommending any service — and to recommend only those services that are suitable for your risk profile.

Honest answers during our onboarding risk-profiling questionnaire help us serve you better and protect you from taking on more risk than you can afford.

2. Risk Categories

We classify our research products into the following risk categories. Your subscription to a particular product is contingent on your risk profile matching or exceeding the product's risk level.

  • Low Risk: Capital preservation focus, lower expected returns, suitable for new investors or those near retirement
  • Moderate Risk: Balanced approach — moderate risk for moderate returns. Suitable for investors with 3+ years of experience and stable income
  • High Risk: Higher potential returns but higher potential losses. Suitable for experienced traders with risk capital (money they can afford to lose)
  • Very High Risk: Significant risk of total capital loss. Suitable only for highly experienced traders with substantial risk capital

3. Product Risk Levels

The risk level of each Stockwise Research product is as follows:

  • Equity (Stock Cash) — Moderate
  • Index Options — High
  • Index Option Plus — Moderate (hedged strategies)
  • Index Option Combo — High
  • Stock Futures — High
  • Commodity — High

4. Risk Profiling Questionnaire

Before subscribing, you will complete a short risk-profiling questionnaire covering: your age, annual income, net worth, investment experience, time horizon, and ability to absorb losses. Based on your responses, we will categorise you into one of the following:

  • Conservative Investor — eligible only for Low-risk products
  • Moderate Investor — eligible for Low and Moderate-risk products
  • Aggressive Investor — eligible for Low, Moderate and High-risk products
  • Speculative Investor — eligible for all products including Very High-risk

5. Suitability

We will not provide research services to you for any product whose risk level exceeds your risk profile. If you believe your risk profile has changed (e.g. due to change in income or financial goals), please contact us to update your profile.

Even if you are eligible for a product, you should not subscribe if you cannot afford to lose the capital you plan to deploy. Never borrow to trade. Never deploy capital you need for living expenses, medical emergencies or other essential purposes.

6. Re-assessment

We will re-assess your risk profile at least once every 12 months, or sooner if there is a material change in your circumstances. You are also encouraged to reach out proactively if your situation changes.
